Statement of Barbara Anderson of Citizens for Limited Taxation

“Martha Coakley is not a friend of the taxpayer. She should stay far away from the tax issue, instead of reminding voters that if elected she’ll be a vote for Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi on more spending and higher taxes, and Scott Brown will not. Scott Brown has stood with us in opposing new taxes. I also take offense at Martha Coakley’s criticism of the “no new tax” pledge that Scott Brown has taken. The “no new tax” pledge is an important policy statement meant to put everyone on notice that the pledge taker will not be pressured into voting for tax increases but will instead support responsible budget reforms and spending reductions. It’s no surprise that Martha Coakley refuses to take the pledge. What is surprising is that she would pretend to be a friend of the taxpayer.”
