Seeking.....Jobs, answers, and a BETTER America.

While I appreciate some members of the GOP wanting to decrease a deficit budget, I also am reminded that those of us who have been out of work for so long that we count the time in YEARS have NO benefits left. No income, NO insurance, NO food stamps and NO JOB. The reality is that many middle class educated hard working Americans now face a future as homeless individuals. I am one of those.

My days are spent scouting any type of a job I can do to bring dollars home to my family. I am ready to file for bankruptcy, but don't have the $300 needed to file. Today I found a one day temp job that will give me about $50 next week. My mortgage is $1500 and I am three months behind. I no longer have credit and that's not because I lived beyond my means. As a good secretary I paid every one of my bills on time, but the simple math is, if it doesn't come in as pay, it doesn't go out to pay the bills.

After President Obama was elected, I wrote an email to the White House asking him to remember those of us who struggled. This was the land our forefathers found where a better day for mankind approached on the horizon and the land of our recent immigrant ancestors who came for a much better life than the one dealt them. I appealed to the President to really SEE those Americans who struggled and who were in the fight for the long haul. Those Americans who had worked their entire life so that someday their children might succeed. Those Americans who now watched as their entire life and dreams for their children washed away with the economy.

Five months later on a Sunday morning, the telephone rang. A call from the White House! Well, no. Actually it was a call from a mental health agency. The White House wanted to make sure I wasn't depressed enough over the financial state to off myself. Now there's a caring guy.

Okay, I digressed. I think you can tell that the overall theme of the economy for people like me is pretty dire.

People like me.... we lost over 70% of our jobs to offshore companies like call centers and software developers in India. We find total incompetance in federally or state funded jobs designed to help us solve our problems. Most people have no idea what they're doing and leave us hanging for months while misinformation crosses paths over and over again.

I have something to say. I'm not invisible. I am an AMERICAN and I demand I be seen and heard.

I want a JOB. I want to WORK. I want the PROUD feelings I once had.

WHERE are those jobs? If not the jobs, what can you do to get us through this crises.

PLEASE VOTE FOR THE EXTENSIONS. PLEASE VOTE FOR JOBS. PLEASE FIND WHERE THE LEAK IS AND FIX IT!

(here is my resume....I'll talk to anyone about a good job)

Dear Judith:
Because they "The POLS" most of them, do not understand nor seem to care about Americans like you. I think that is true for the most part. The American Taxpayer is generally ignored until they want your VOTE! Even if they do care it seems to me they use the Treasury and the office to buy new votes, not to help taxpayers like you save their homestead. Even though it was the actions of POLS that caused the problems for you in the first place. Any mortgage stimulis should be reserved for people like you taxpayers first not to help others non-taxpayers buy a home they cannot afford. Not unlike SSI that is abused in very much the same manner. It has to STOP! Americans like you who will not quit lie down and die must demand this in November! Keep fighting. REMEMBER NOVEMBER! All the best to you.

I dont think this needs to be about partisian politics, nor does it need to be about who will do what to pay the bills. We'll all do anything we can (and I have) to keep our homes but it doesn't seem to be enough. In somebody's dreamworld, taking what one can get is wonderful, but the fact is sometimes there is nothing for one to take.

I'm very tired of hearing pundits talk about "us" like we are sitting home watching Jerry Springer and waiting for the next check.

But thank you, knowing that I'm "not the only one out of work" makes it so much easier to make friends in the soup line.

The GOP isn't against helping those who need help. They only wanted the Democrats to pay for it with the Stimulus Money they are hoarding for their own purposes...not for what that money was intended. Besides, one has to ask, how long must this go on...forever? You are not the only one out of work. There are those who will take any job even if it isn't in their expertise in order to put food on the table. At this particular time one has to take whatever one can get no matter how low a pay it is in order to make ends meet. Four members of my family are out of work, but they will wash dishes if necessary to put food on the table and all of them have Master's Degrees and higher. They are not too proud to work at menial jobs right now as long as it helps.
