Scott Brown's Remarks After the Debate - December 23rd, 2009

Last night’s debate revealed some significant differences between Martha Coakley and me.

I want to go to Washington to be a check and balance against the spending abuses of Congress. Martha Coakley will be a rubber stamp for the tax and spend policies that will hurt our economy.

During the debate, Martha Coakley referred to higher taxes as “investments.” I believe higher taxes are job killers that will make it harder for us to get our economy moving again.

We’ve lost millions of jobs since the recession began and yet our leaders in Washington don’t seem focused on the economy.

Spending is out of control.

Taxes are too high and going higher.

Government keeps getting bigger and bigger.

I’m convinced that my election will send a strong message that business as usual in Washington is coming to an end.

I will vote against the health care bill because it is bad for Massachusetts and bad for the country. It now looks as though I could be the crucial vote on final passage of the bill.

If you believe the health care bill has been mishandled and that it will lead to more government, higher taxes and increased spending, then vote for me and I will stop it from becoming law.

These are the very real differences I have with Martha Coakley.

I look forward to more debates with Martha Coakley. I understand that she has accepted some debates, but is dragging her feet on others.

Already, the League of Women Voters has cancelled a debate scheduled for Faneuil Hall because of her refusal to participate. Other debate sponsors have been unable to move forward with their plans because she has not responded to them.

Let’s not limit the number of debates between us.

There is too much at stake for our state and our nation.

The political machine is going to pull out all the stops to keep their hands on this Senate seat, and to pass a health care bill that will raise taxes, increase spending and create bigger government.

Last week, in talking about debates, Martha said, “This is about a very important seat, and voters really should get a chance to see who’s on the ballot.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Fred, I like the way Scott is forcefully pinning Martha on the issues of taxation and cap and trade.
You're right, the people of the country are angry.

If Scott can focus on:
* Encouraging private sector jobs creation by reducing taxation, government mandates, and regulations
* Fighting for the citizens against Obamacare as bankrupting the country, jacking up peoples' cost along with inferior care
* Fighting for our citizens against cap and trade for the boondoggle it is
* Fighting for our citizens against Illegal immigration/amnesty
* And fighting for our friends like Israel instead of cozying up to global despots throwing Israel under the bus Scott will be in great shape.

The anger is over jobs, government running the private sector, shrinking disposable family income, out of control bankrupting spending, and appearing weak internationally.

Scott's in a great position to capitalize saying if you want a strong US vote for him. If you're happy with policies bankrupting the country, the government running your lives, with few private sector jobs, and our enemies disrespecting us Martha is your candidate rubber stamping the above policies.

So much for Scott to pin Martha on, and so little time.

Scott all the way.

i still think you are on a loosing streak:
you still go after martha when she is as irrelevant as the bush eligibility.
i repeat: dont go after martha, all you do is propagandize `her slogans.

she is in kennedycountry and thats totally irrelevant today: hes dead. shes a kennedy plantation slave, a white aunt tom....

look: why dont you tout the utter corruption of the mass reps re obamma care:
we do have universal health care here in mass. we pay for it, it costs us our unemployment figures plus inflation, we can barely carry it. so why the hell support obammacare: coakley thinks it is good for massachusettts....is she crazy?
making things worse in healthcare is good for mass? nuts!
this shows that healthcarereform by coakley is a liberal ideology thing and it will take down mass even more, thats why it is bad for us.
brown has a better idea: vote against obammacare, it makes mass better, not for it!
this is the kind of positive message you should tout.

if you are lost, ask mitt how to run a positive campaign.
or read ronald reagan in his own words.

stop debating martha, let her debate herself to irrelevance. your clock iks running out, brown.

ps: i said i'd buy a poster for display in dwntwn boston. no need out here in central mass, every poster i see is brown.
so get real, wakeup the anti liberals on beacon hill, there are plenty.
or those at harvard med school which is my territory: plenty!!!! just connect with the rotc fans!

and: send out generic mail-in vote requests this year! do it. to all independents an repubs, that will make a difference

You want to read where Mass voters are at go to the Globe online frontpage and read the comments about Coakley refusing to debate Scott one on one. Scott's comment support must be 25 to 1 positive--in the GLOBE, of all places.

I believe Martha's counting on 175% of the women's vote to defeat Scott.

There is too much at stake is an understatement, these are very absurd taxes we are facing.

Add all of it National debt over $12,400,000,000,000.00 debt per person $38,171.00 spending this year YTD $2,591,000,000,000.00 spending per person $8,432.00 next add in the unfunded liabilities Medicare/Medicaid $40,000,000,000,000.00 Social Security $11,000,000,000,000.00 Prescription Drug $9,000,000,000,000.00 Unfunded Liabilities per person $191,863.00. Then add in the healthcare bill is a guess at $1,400,000,000,000.00 and has $17,000,000,000,000.00 in Unfunded Liabilities. You can likely multiply this by ten to get the true cost. The cap and tax bill is another $145,000,000,000,000.00 bill to stop global warming that is turning out to be a big fraud. The Est. Currency and Credit Derivatives (toxic assets) $645,000,000,000,000.00, how much of this are we going to pay? They just passed another $1,000,000,000,000.00 spending bill. Lastly you can add in the state and town taxes, are you keeping up with how costly this hype and change is costing you?

Please say Merry Christmas to your children when you hand them this $1,000,000,000,000,000.00 bill,

And Merry Christmas to all but grandma, $500,000,000,000.00 cut from Medicare

There is no such thing as a conservative democrat any more, they are all tax and spend liberals and will use any lie to coverer up and distract from this fact. People need to know the cost of their vote and this needs to be made clear.

Heck, I can’t even stuff these numbers in to my old calculator without getting an error, just think of what this is going to do to our nation.

I think you'll be the 41st vote to block cloture!! And the catalyst for effective and conservative compromise.

Voters should also appreciate the hypocracy of Martha in favoring a "strong public option" when the next senator will be exempt from this absurdity. We can also look to the Senior Senator and his wife who will also be exempt. Kerry's love of this bill must mean he has inside knowledge because all the GOP senators commenting on CSPAN last week had no chance to read it. But he did get a payoff for Massachusetts to vote for this bill. Kerry's wife is against a government panel telling her when to have mammograms. Scott's vote to kill this bill which will not impact the quality of his health care shows he is fighting for Massachusetts citizens (as well as the majority of Americans who think doing nothing is better than this bill). Unmentioned are the constitutional challenges to the bill. Can you imagine a bill which includes a provision that it can never be repealed? Scott- Please save our health care!
