Scary Obituary
In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the
University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the
Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: "A democracy is always
temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent
form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until
the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous
gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority
always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from
the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally
collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a
dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the
beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200
years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."
The Obituary follows:

Born 1776, Died 2012
It doesn't hurt to read this several times.
Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in
St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning
the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory
McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens
of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low
income tenements and living off various forms of government
welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the
"complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of
democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population
already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million
criminal invaders called illegal's - and they vote - then we can say
goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message.

If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how
much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our
freedom..

This is truly scary

Beth, I'm sorry if you feel it was negative to Sen Brown.  However, I did check it ou and the numbers are in fact those of Obama and McCain. That is not the point of the blog in the first place .

Secondly I don't believe everything I read in the liberal press.  The media reports a lot more in accurate and damaging articles than what I posted. They don't check anything out when it comes to politics. It is all about the liberal side. Sorry but I don't feel I did a thing wrong and i will check with Sen Brown as to his opinion and if he thinks I hurt his chances of re-election.  After listening to his debate last evening there is no question he will win in a land slide. Unless of course the liberals keep digging up untruths and the press keeps reporting it... Ask Sen Brown about all the untruths that his opponent his throwing out there. He even has an ad to disclaim them.  But the media keeps reporting them..... Sorry but I am not a good person to talk about the media in this country.  I have sent the same article to Sen Kerry, Pres. Obama, and Rep Olver. I am not in favor of amnesty for illeagals , they should have to come to this country the way the law allows.  My parents had to. I am sick and tired of people in this country being Politically Correct. Look what it has gotten us. What is the Constitution written for if we don't follow it to the letter?????  Any way you have your rights and I have mine and I'm not ashamed at posting the article.  As I said , I will check with Senator Brown if he objects I will remove it.

It is appearing on his blog on his web site.

I agree with what you think about the country, believe me, but I almost circulated this to others until I checked it out. The first part makes sense and is spot on, but the originator's name is not accurate. I see this country following that exact path. That alone would have made your point.

I am in the newspaper business, have been for a long time, and nothing goes out there without verification. The information is nullified when the facts aren't right.

It originally circulated with different politicians' names, so it can't be true with Obama and McCain's names. They were just substituted by someone recently and now it winds up here.

Beth, this doesn't damage anyone's credibility ... It is stating facts.... Snopes is not always right as you must know.  I'm sure if you were to talk with anyone about this article they can see what is happening to our democracy.  I certainly didn't say anything about Sen Brown in this article.  I am a supporter of him and only posted this article for the people of this Great Country to read and realize what is taking place in todays world. These are all facts you check them out.  Sen Brown has his hands full trying to deal with the present administration in Washington. Four more years of Obama and we will not be able to express ourselves period. I don't get where you think I damage Scott Brown's credibility.

You need to check these things out before putting them on the blog:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/ballot/athenian.asp

This resurfaces with different candidate names and the content did not come from the people named. It was a viral email in the year 2000.

You damage Scott Brown's credibility by putting such things on his site.
