Hi everyone,

Why don't we each pick out a senior citizen in our neighborhood and 1) say hello, check on their well-being, 2) relate our interest and conviction that Senator Brown needs to be elected, and 3) offer ride to the polls? So many benefits to this simple strategy. Seniors need a Republican like Senator Brown in office to protect their rights!!!! This could bring in the votes that make the difference.

Can you captain a rumble rides team in your town?
Thanks, Deirdre

FIRST, there are some really excellent posts on this thread!

About Volunteers. Besides those calling in or walking in off the street, is there a simple way to round up more volunteers? This is a brainstorming session where no idea is too far out there. If you decide you do not like your post or it is no longer relevant, do what I do, delete it.

Volunteers. I am thinking about synagogues, churches, even mosques if there are followers of Islam who want to make a statement of honest and modesty. (I have friends who are Muslims and Muslimahs who wear the hijab.) This is an election on behalf of ALL Americans no matter what color, what creed, what religion, what age, what gender. When we say we want to take back our country, do we not mean we want honesty and honor in government?

Volunteers. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, other social groups, schoolchilren? Unions (there may be some who understand what Scott stands for and it is good for jobs and good for unions and good for one's health. (I was a Union Steward). Senior centers for active seniors. (On vacation, I met a 76-yr old lady from MA who still worked 40 hrs a week. Impressed the heck out of me.)

I am just trying to think of untapped resources..

Okay Emmy and IstRichard,
Thanks for the feedback. I think that we should make a new brigade to get a sense of volunteer interest. If not satisfactory, we can go to campaign for more volunteers. Maybe we can combine the ideas and name the effort, get the flyers out in each town, and on the 19th have respondents call into a campaign office where we have someone available to do a pick-up. We may not be able to offer "inducements" (hot choc, music) if coming from campaign office; I dont know. Does anyone have a contact that they are sppeaking with at campaign headquarters? The reason I feel that we should name the effort and offer some fun is that this is really good for seniors, and the response would be better with 1) fun, and 2) organized efforts. Thoughts?

Deirdre,
From another meeting last night we do have some volunteer drivers and will be doing it locally. The 9|12 is non-partisan and we do not support any one party or person. I think that would be good to do it under a different banner.
Possibly have a local brown Office with a signup sheet for drivers and call in to the Brown office for a ride?

Deirdre, I answered your email but then was just reading the comments here. maybe we should start a brigade as Karrie suggested for vo;unteers to drive elders or disabled to the polls. ....Or even just people nervous about driving in the winter; there is still a ton of snow around here and who knows what we will get between now and the 19th. At least we can compile a list. Apparently Karrie doesn't live here .Since you are busy with the Rumble idea, should we look for someone to start one and organize who knows the state?

Elaine, I like your idea about getting drivers for the elderly. I wish I lived in Mass. so I could drive people to vote for Scott. Should we start a volunteer to drive section?

1st Richard, maybe I can find out from campaign if we can "name" the effort and start pulling volunteers together to a) drop flyers, and b) give rides on the 19th. I made a flyer which Emmy has now, too, and we can have them dropped at every senior center/nursing home and seniors can call # on flyer and make an appointment for a "courtesy volunteer." If we want to use my flyer, we offer hot chocolate and classic music on the way - Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, etc. Did u contact your group via email, or this blog site? Also, we want to name the effort so that the word "Republican" is in there - we want to assist Scott's supporters!

Don't forget to call relatives and friends, make sure they vote!
If your in college, make sure you grab a few friends or tell people about Scott.

Knock on your neighbors door, tell them we need change in washington, and Scott Brown is the right change!
