Although I have not read the finance bill , I am leery of these giant bills. You sound as if you have read it,Scott, and understand what is in it. I assume you are working for your constituents in MA., including those financial companies I use.
With that said, the Dems have been governing so hard against the will of the people , it seems to me the people deserve to be heard in the next election , much like they spoke in yours. I think waiting for all major legislation until after the election out of respect for the citizens is a sensible compromise. If the people change governments so be it and likewise if they ratify the course the Obama administration is on then that is that. I don't see the need to rush anything though right now unless it is to sidestep the voice of the voters. What would be lost if you take a bit of time , maybe look over those 2000 pages a bit more, and let all the voters tell you what we think in Nov.

Even if the Republicans vote no, the Democrats are in control and will ram it through. Senator Brown found some very good things in the bill and, in my opinion, used good judgment in voting. Nothing in life is perfect, least of all the legislation in Washington but sometimes there's enough good to qualify a bill for a yes vote.

You forget whose running the show in Washington these days. The Demorcrats know they will be losing control after election time, so they are pushing through as much legislation as they can, as fast as they can. Unfortunately, the Republicans only have so many tricks in their arsenal to stall things. Take heart, my friend, it's all over for the Dem's come November............we are taking them out of the driver's seat. Amen!!
