While Elizabeth Warren sits back and waits for checks to roll in from liberal out-of-state donors -- some 70 percent of her contributions come from OUTSIDE Massachusetts -- Sen. Scott Brown was out making his case with the actual voters of the Commonwealth this weekend, one handshake at a time.
Quincy's 3rd Annual Chili Bowl was just one of the stops Scott and his wife, Gail, hit over the weekend. And it was clear that Quincy residents appreciated the fact that he had taken the time to come to the event, held Jan. 28 at Hough's Neck Congregational Church. One lifelong Quincy resident noted, "I don't recall a U.S. senator ever coming to Hough's Neck before." Another commented, "John Kerry's never come here, that's for damn sure! I guess we only have ONE senator representing us in Washington!"
Professor Warren may have the backing of Barbra Streisand and Emily's List, but it will be interesting to see how long it takes for her to realize that it's going to take more than a stamp of approval from Hollywood liberals and out-of-state donors to win over the voters of Massachusetts.
