I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside, and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families. This Senate jobs bill is not perfect. I wish the tax cuts were deeper and broader, but I voted for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work.

I was disappointed with the continuation of politics-as-usual in the drafting of this bill, as it was crafted behind closed doors, without transparency and accountability. I hope for improvements in that process going forward. All of us, Republicans and Democrats, have to work together to get our economy back on track. I hope my vote today is a strong step toward restoring bipartisanship in Washington.

John I don't want to know how much less they paid because this is just a result of a tax credit not a tax cut. If your going to say that obama cut taxes then show me what the new rates are.

0-18981 paid 5.5%less. 18982--37595 paid 3.6%less. 37596-66354 paid 2.4%less. and on it goes. Of course, 2.7 million and above paid out the ass, roughly 14% more. I recommend researching your own family at taxpolicycenter.org. There are numerous other factors to consider, such as earned income credit, ect.. I have no children so I missed out on alot of the cuts. Good luck.

I think your getting tired Bradman because I don't see anyone who proposed sending money to the democrats. But if this vote is a glimps of whats to come what is the difference? I'll tell you what though I will keep my money and send it to someone that is fiscally conservative and doesn't just say it.

John,

Keep slurpin the koolaide, there were NO TAX CUTS PERIOD!! there were tax credits, there is a HUGE difference, tax cuts come from reducing the tax rates in the tax tables, they did not do that. And that tax savings, I hope you didn't spend it, because it's going to be included as unearned income on your 2010 taxes.

Exactly he campaigned fiscally conservative so tell me how this vote is fiscally conservative. He can also look at the majority of his supporters and say yup I screwed ya! You are making my case Bradman evertime you talk about survial in Mass. Is Scott Browns goal to survive as a Mass. Senator or to do the right thing or at least what he campaigned for?

The fact that you paid less doesn't tell me jack. Please tell me what the rates were lowered to because at this point the only rate you can show is a TAX HIKE.

The very basic tax brackets change are easy. Those making below 250k a year as a group had federal income taxes lowered, they were different for every bracket. 250k and above were raised to roughly 36%. These were at 36% under Clinton, and reduced to 33% under President Bush. President Obama raised these to the Clinton levels, and cut every single other lower bracket. I know that this year for my household I paid 647$ less, with roughly the same adjusted gross income. I made 2k$ more because my wife got a raise, but my pay stayed the same. I am military and my pay is like clockwork. For me it was quite simple to do my income and see the tax cuts. It might not be so easy for those with widely varying incomes year to year.

People like John are always poping up at these sites. And I guess you need to explain to me what a conservative is to you because I think the name has been hijacked starting with one "compassionate conservative" Conservative don't spend our country into oblivion!

@John Lefebvre My taxes increased as a small business owner and I am most definitely *not* in the top 5% or top 25% of earners; cigarette taxes increased at the Federal level. Either one negates your 95% theory. Appreciate the perspective, but it is misguided at this time.
