I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside, and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families. This Senate jobs bill is not perfect. I wish the tax cuts were deeper and broader, but I voted for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work.

I was disappointed with the continuation of politics-as-usual in the drafting of this bill, as it was crafted behind closed doors, without transparency and accountability. I hope for improvements in that process going forward. All of us, Republicans and Democrats, have to work together to get our economy back on track. I hope my vote today is a strong step toward restoring bipartisanship in Washington.

Now that you have over 20 pages of comments over the last 12 hours, you should take the time and count how many people are now against YOU. In 2 weeks you went from hero to traitor.

What a fool I was to believe another politician!!! Your grandchildren and great grandchildren will curse you.

What a total disappointment Scott! I'm up here in Maine...and I expect this kind of voting from our Senators, but I was hoping to see something new and refreshing from YOU. I campaigned for you, I donated money, and I was truly hopeful that you'd be different.
Just a total disappointment. Did we all get it wrong..that you ran as a fiscal conservative? You need to look at the definition of that term again. This is no time for bi-partisan votes , this is the time to stand up for America, and put a stop to the liberal democrats excessive spending. Did you not get that memo from your constituents?

Scott I am so disappointed in your vote. You claimed the 800 billion stimulus accomplished nothing, and so you vote for 15 billion dollars more.....I voted for you to stop the senseless spending, and on your first vote you stab me in the heart. You seemed giddy that Harry Reid took time from his busy day of worship to call little old you. Well big damn deal. I stood in the cold, rain , and snow with your signs, I gave the time and for what; so I could get the male version of Martha Coakley. Not even on the job two months and you've already been converted to the Washington crowd. So sad, so very sad.Might as well start packing the truck and heading back north, there's no amount of spin for this Benedict Arnold moment. The Peoples Seat is already gone again, we'll just have to try again to find the right person to fill our seat.
Side comment please answer your phones and messages so we can call you personally.....

Dear Senator Brown:

I disagree with this "Jobs Bill" as currently crafted. It appears to consist of 68% temporary tax credits & 32% increased spending. I don't believe this will help create jobs and hope it is either dramatically revised or defeated.

When I first tweeted in support of you, I knew I disagreed with some of your views. I expect to continue supporting you while disagreeing with 15-30% of your votes. I don't want robotic conservative US senators who always vote the same in lock-step. I want independent thinkers, even when they give me heartburn at times. I want differences of opinion to be available in the marketplace of ideas. Even though I disagree with you on this vote & other issues, I am still very thankful that you are the US Senator from Massachusetts instead of Martha Coakley.

However, I am disappointed in your vote and in the timing and lack of detail about your explanation of your vote. Having scanned the comments here and in the ScottBrownMA feed on Twitter, this vote and the way it was explained has:

1) Harmed your reputation;

2) Harmed many of your supporters, some of whom feel very betrayed and others who feel blindsided and left out on a limb without a ladder;

3) Given aid and comfort to liberal Democrats;

4) Hurt GOP and conservative teamwork and momentum for victory in 2010; and

5) Caused a firestorm of fury from conservatives, not only from the many who never supported you, but also from many who were very active supporting you.

So, Senator Brown, please continue being yourself, but also please try to anticipate better and be more sensitive to the impact your words and deeds will have on your supporters and the GOP as a whole.

Thanks.

I am so disappointed in you Senator Brown. This jobs bill will create how many private sector jobs...probably not one. Tax breaks to create a job for one year...also why hire if there is no additional demand! Help me understand why this is good for MA! Unions??? How many union jobs? What about the portion for highways, etc... More govt waste as govt cannot manage anything! I gave you $ and thought you would vote down anything that increased spending. I am very disappointed. Remember you need our support come 2012 ..don't blow it!

You never would have won the election if we knew you were going to vote against an unemployment benefit extension.
