I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside, and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families. This Senate jobs bill is not perfect. I wish the tax cuts were deeper and broader, but I voted for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work.

I was disappointed with the continuation of politics-as-usual in the drafting of this bill, as it was crafted behind closed doors, without transparency and accountability. I hope for improvements in that process going forward. All of us, Republicans and Democrats, have to work together to get our economy back on track. I hope my vote today is a strong step toward restoring bipartisanship in Washington.

I left a post last night when I became aware of the intensity of the response on Brown Brigade re: Scott's vote referenced above. Though on the surface I am not particularly happy with the outcome, he too has expressed reservations in his comments. I AM from Massachusetts unlike many who are commenting here. I am not "one of those Massachusetts lunatics" either. I want nothing more than to see the outrageous behavior of the public servants in DC stopped and make sure that the president is not able to put in place the progressive and dangerous agenda he so ruthlessly pursues. But I did as did many of you spend countless hours working for Scott's election. We in Massachusetts are so grateful for the assistance and support we received from the entire nation to help us send him to Washington. I continue to have faith that he knows he is there to represent the people and to see that the Constitution is the guide for decisions affecting our country, not czars, lobbists, unions special interest groups or greedy politicians. His presence in DC has already helped achieve positive change. He will need time to establish himself in the Senate and it will take more than one vote for him to do this. My support of him comes from what I believe to be his honor, integrity, good judgment, love of country and respect for the Constitution. if I have made an error in judgment we will know soon enough. For now I think he deserves our patience as I think he is well aware of the impending doom headed for our country if our path does not change back to true American principles quickly and strongly. Just the fact that there is this much outrage and feedback due to one vote is a change that has occurred. The people of our nation have awakened. I only hope that those of you from states other than Massachusetts have been in touch with your own Senators with the same passion and awareness you are expressing here to alert them that we the people mean business. If you are pleased with your Senator's votes, tell them so. If not, tell them that as well. Tell them why and tell them as loudly and fervently as you have spoken here to Scott that you expect them to be responsive to your voices. It is only by reaching out on this scale relentlessly that we will be able to save our beloved nation.

I, like so many Americans have been duped. I contributed to your campaign believing that you were a conservative. You’ve proven to be precisely what is wrong with the Republican party – too liberal. Jobs are NOT created by government spending, but by putting money in the hands of the small business owners via tax cuts. It is a fact repeatedly proven. I will be contributing to your opponent next time, even if it means a liberal democrat. At least they don’t pretend to be something other than a snake in the grass. You did, and I am most disappointed!

Now that Brown is probably the most-despised republican in the country, I'm wondering if McCain will even want him on the campaign trail.

Brown will not help him win over the hearts and minds of conservatives in AZ. That's for sure.

It's a step forward Scott. Hopefully this bill will bring jobs not only to MA but even more so to other states that have been really decimated in the job market. Keep leading like you do. That's why we voted for you and hopefully your leadership will have a long lasting impact on bipartisanship in Washington. Thanks for keeping us up to date on Twitter.

We always knew Scott Brown was a big-spending liberal at heart. The idea that he was going to be a Judd Greg-like fiscal hawk was laughable (based on his record).

And it took only one vote to throw that meme out the window.

But he sure did dupe conseravtives and tea partiers across the country. He's laughing all the way to the bank too. Word has it he has some $13 million of their hard earned dough in the bank.

I am disappointed with your politics as usual. Didn't you do your homework? You know that much of last year's stimulus bill went to pork and pet projects and clear evidence that the money went to non-existent districts. You also know that 2/3rds of that money has not been spent yet and has been assigned to MORE pork projects and re-election campaigns for Democrats. Where is the common-sense here? You have a voice right now. People are listening to you. Why do we need to print $15B more that we do not have when we have unspent stimulus funds that could be reallocated to areas that could create REAL JOBS? Where is the accountablity here? This was an opportunity wasted.
