I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside, and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families. This Senate jobs bill is not perfect. I wish the tax cuts were deeper and broader, but I voted for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work.

I was disappointed with the continuation of politics-as-usual in the drafting of this bill, as it was crafted behind closed doors, without transparency and accountability. I hope for improvements in that process going forward. All of us, Republicans and Democrats, have to work together to get our economy back on track. I hope my vote today is a strong step toward restoring bipartisanship in Washington.

My bad. I read it wrong. He's here until 2012. What a drag. I think Mitch Mcconnell should drop the nickname "41' and just call him Martha.

You might as well just resign now and get it over with. You are finished as far as I'm concerned.

Matthew, No. You are absolutely correct. Businesses exist to produce, supply, sell, or service. Businesses do not exist to employ. No employment incentive will lead to production or manufacturing growth, let alone increases in sales or service opportunities. These type of incentives DO NOT unto themselves create demand. The only time employment incentives create jobs is when as an employer the qualifiers for growth are evident and you are evaluating increasing inventory opportunity or speculating. This requires a fundamental assurance that future growth is evident, and current finances are stable. Neither of these previous two determining factors are present. To the contrary the exact opposite exists. Hope that answers your question.

If, by your own admission, Scott, was the bill so imperfect, why vote for something like that. You said, regarding the health care matter, that you wanted to see a better bill than the one circulating right now be put on the floor for voting, why can't you do that with a jobs bill. If you wished for deeper tax cuts, why didn't you tell your new friends that they need to put those in before you vote on it. We are trying to save this country from the abominable Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and other Democrats that are destroying this country every day. Is this going to be your excuse when the health care bill comes to you? Enjoy your three years in office, I hope they are the one only three you get, you absolute liar!

Don't forget that this charlatan is up for a full term election in November. I can't help you with that because I live in Nevada and we have our own problems here with Dirty Harry, but you People in Mass. better start looking for an HONEST candidate. I spent $800 dollars printing bumper stickers to pass around Nevada that read " WHERE IS OUR SCOTT BROWN ?" I just threw them all in the garbage can. NO ONE is more disappointed and pissed off than ME ! I'll eat the $800 bucks because I was stupid enough to trust you, but I want the $50.00 back that I donated to your campaign you Bastard !

Lindsey,

With all due respect that $1000 incentive is worthless. I own a business and I can assure you I will not hire an unemployed guy just because I am going to recieve a $1000 tax break. I have to pay him $30,000 bucks and after that the government is going to give me 1 G. They can stick that 1 G up their @r$#. Do we have anyone in Washington that's every run a small business.

If I hire another employee it will be because my business is doing better and I need one and then I will hire the best qualified even if it cost me a little more. Now if by chance the best qualified has been unemployed that is just pure coincidence. But let's just also say the longer he has been unemployed the less likely I am to select him. He better have a good story. One G will not sway my decision one bit.

Now if they want to help me offer to pay half his salary for 3-6 months that would help. That will give me an incentive me to hire someone unemployed. And I guarantee I will take advantage of that right now and hire one new person. See how he works.

What really irates me is they are taking all this stimulus money that they stole from our children and just tossing it around like it's monopoly money and seeing what sticks. Look in Waltham, Ma and listen what one lady says...

“There were no jobs created. It was just shuffling around of the funds,’’ said Susan Kelly, director of property management for Boston Land Co., which reported retaining 26 jobs with $2.7 million in rental subsidies for its affordable housing developments in Waltham. “It’s hard to figure out if you did the paperwork right. We never asked for this.’’

2.7 mil and not one new job created but reported as 26. Voodoo math. Someone please keep Biden away from our money. 786 million and Biden is the bank teller. America we have a problem.
