I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside, and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families. This Senate jobs bill is not perfect. I wish the tax cuts were deeper and broader, but I voted for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work.

I was disappointed with the continuation of politics-as-usual in the drafting of this bill, as it was crafted behind closed doors, without transparency and accountability. I hope for improvements in that process going forward. All of us, Republicans and Democrats, have to work together to get our economy back on track. I hope my vote today is a strong step toward restoring bipartisanship in Washington.

Scott, I support you. i worked hard on your campaign and felt an honest sense of pride on the day that you were elected. That being said, the road ahead of you WILL be challenging at best. I am sure that your review of this bill was in-depth, and that you voted for what you thought would be the best for those you represent... that alone is something better than Massachusetts has had for a long time. Kerry, Frank, Delahunt... and the rest of THE MACHINE think that the voter pool is too stupid to know what is best for us. I honestly hope that you do not travel down that road. JOBS in this economy is critical to the survival of our families and the nation as a whole... but I would like to know that the JOBS being created serve a purpose to better our society... not just issue paychecks to those chosen to be on the payroll. There is too much inefficiency in our government now.... and it needs to stop!

I am lucky to have a good job with decent security, but I struggle to pay off college loan debt, and to save for retirement and my children's future... I juggle the night shift so my kids do not have to be in day care. This economy has changed the way that my husband and I spend.... we eat a lot more pB&J than we used to. I am frustrated when I see how hap-hazard the government has been with our hard earned tax dollars, and how little "listening" most of our govenment officials actually do. My vote still means something.... and I know that you can understand that.

I would like to see these jobs created, real work for real people.... MAKE IT HAPPEN! No more signs pointing out that "this is a created or saved job"... just work for people.......and for Christ's sake ( and the voter's of Massachusetts) get that damn Jet away from Nancy Pelosi........ make her accountable for how much she uses it....... hasn't the Washington set up an office to review the Senate expense accounts... there is a job! I am sure there would be many out of work accountants and alike who could do that..... and save us a ton......
Hey.... when was the last time Nancy had a PB&J in flight?

What I believe the rest of the stimulus money will be spent on is for helping the democrats get re-elected. This administration is such a Chicago Mob profile that they have something up their sleeve.
If they do not steal the rest of the stimulus money they will pour it into the economy just before election to say "look what we have done". I do not trust one word this administration is telling us. Not a truthful President and I believe in Karma.

I would like you to explain that you voted for the bill to help create jobs for Massachusetts families. Did you get a bribe from Harry to vote for this bill? I have read and listened to commentators stating this bill will not add any jobs. I believe it 100%. Feel that you hurt a lot of conservatives with adding your name to Harry's bill also that you have hurt your mentor, John McCain with promoting Harry's bill that was drafted behind closed doors. My personal opinon that John McCain will probably not get any help from the Tea Party people. We are a very strong group of people who are looking for conservative trusting politicans. John Mc Cain I am sure will not get our support or money. We raised you a lot of money for your campaign and put our trust in you. Feel like you did a stupid thing for our country.

Michael, I may not have explained my point well. To explain, I don't see the $15B as an investment to grow the economy but rather an investment to merely change the public's perception that the president & democrats aren't focused on the economy. I don't understand it to be a serious means toward true, LONG TERM economic growth in the private sector. Rather it disregards the root cause of the problem, providing temporary relief. Not to mention $15 B we don't have. It just doesn't make sense.

Scott Brown, I was a proud supporter of yours and donated to your campaign as you championed against the budget busting stimulus. You were going to stand up to the backroom deals. Instead, you have a press conference with Harry Reid pledging your support. Finally, I am stunned that one of your first votes would be to support "Stimulus 2".

Where do we get $15 billion to pay for this? We are in massive debt from the first bailout. How many jobs will this create? Probably the same as what the Stimulus generated. The only jobs this will generate is more government jobs.

Mr. Allen, as American Aggie said, you do sound angry. Where have I mentioned Glenn Beck? Are you just so smart you can read between the lines? I do believe in agreeing to disagree but you don't play by the rules. I do believe in term limits as well, and also agree that there are corrupt politicians, as there are many corrupt men and women in business, churches, and every sector of our country, BUT NOT ALL POLITICIANS, BUSINESS MEN AND WOMEN, AND EVEN THE GLENN BECK'S ARE 'BEING BOUGHT.'

Have a nice night everyone!

Not attempting to be partisan American Aggie, but wanting to point out that government involvement started long before Obama. Some act as if it all started with him and thats not historically accurate, along with the wreckless spending.

Power corrupts all politicians, republican and democrats no matter who or what they promise. We need term limits for Congress.
Comment by american aggie on February 23, 2010 at 11:49pm
Michael, there is some truth to what you are saying. My solution...smaller government, MUCH smaller government. That way we don't have to worry as much when they are lying.

Night everyone.
