I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside, and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families. This Senate jobs bill is not perfect. I wish the tax cuts were deeper and broader, but I voted for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work.

I was disappointed with the continuation of politics-as-usual in the drafting of this bill, as it was crafted behind closed doors, without transparency and accountability. I hope for improvements in that process going forward. All of us, Republicans and Democrats, have to work together to get our economy back on track. I hope my vote today is a strong step toward restoring bipartisanship in Washington.

KAY KAY MOORE....wrong again....stimulus money HAS NOT only been spent where the dems have wanted, many Republican governors have accepted stimulus money and many Republican congressmen have publicly opposed it but then had photo ops at stimulus project sites, Beck probally didnt mention that though.

We need simple sea change type thinking. Eliminate all coporate taxes on earnings that are retained in the US. Taxing dividends only at the stockholder level when issued. (Including S corps and LLC) Coporations and other businesses do not pay taxes they pass the cost on to consumers. Capital flees from taxes and seeks fertile investment opportunities. Does Anybody believe that the 42" liquid crystal TV that was manufactured in China was built by Chinamen with wooden hammers. The capital to build these plants found its way to China from the American consumer and business investor. A large scale change in tax policy would affect the decision making of every business and the industrial base would start to recover. Thinking on this scale and this basic level of economic understanding should not elude the people who control the fate of this country.

American Aggie, since you think a lot like I do... stop spending, cut payroll taxes, incentives to small businesses, smaller government.... and I liked Bush too until things starting changing... by the way, I do believe in our Military and supporting our defense. I could go on but I've decided that my views have been stated. I AM A CONSERVATIVE AND PROUD OF IT!!!
God Bless America!
