I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside, and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families. This Senate jobs bill is not perfect. I wish the tax cuts were deeper and broader, but I voted for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work.

I was disappointed with the continuation of politics-as-usual in the drafting of this bill, as it was crafted behind closed doors, without transparency and accountability. I hope for improvements in that process going forward. All of us, Republicans and Democrats, have to work together to get our economy back on track. I hope my vote today is a strong step toward restoring bipartisanship in Washington.

American Aggie....Government does not create jobs, that is true....but they can lower your tax liability and therefore increasing your working capital to expand your business and in theory create jobs. That has always been the argument behind tax cuts, and the government is who cuts taxes.

By the way, I hope some of you watched 'GENERATION 0' - this film tells truths of how and why our country is and what has been done through generations to get to where we are now. OUR POOR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THE GREED, RECKLESSNESS, OVER-SPENDING, GENERATIONS OF 'SPOILED' KIDS AND NOT LEARNING FROM OUR PAST. I BELIEVE WE ARE HEADED INTO THE 'ABYSS' AND I FOR ONE DON'T WANT TO GO THERE!!!!

I don't disagree with you, Aggie. We all are affected by the amount of money our dear gov't has been throwing in the last two years; but if the gov't threw billions upon billions on the likes of AIG, Goldman Sachs, and all the other financial institutions, what is so wrong about throwing some in the direction of the American working stiff? Are we so happy with the money all the financial executives took that we don't think the American unemployed need any? I would have started here and let Wall Street founder.

Lindsey, small business will not benefit from the meager(almost meaningless) tax breaks in this bill. I know, because I have been a small business owner myself, and know many others. This is really nothing but window dressing, and it continues to promote the false idea that government dollars "create" jobs. Government can only direct money through laws while absorbing some of that same money to cover the cost of itself. Government produces nothing. That is a simple fact.

I kindly disagree American Aggie....this bill was modest in size, maybe even small and very targeted towards tax cuts to small businesses that employ most Americans so that they may create new jobs. The real waste is in the PORK that is from both Republicans and Democrats....McConnell, Boenher and most congressmen get their fair share of Pork and then preach financial responsibility and also oppose PAY-AS-YOU GO legislation. No one wants to give up their pork in Washington.

You're right.
Bradman family makes the same comment along w/1789 Patriot.
Read their comments. It really doesn't make sense.
They're like two peas in a pod.

I too am disappointed with Senator Brown voting for jobs bill and I don't care why... it will not create enough jobs to rationalize this continued reckless spending from Washington. I don't live in Mass. but I did donate to campaign because I truly believed he would align with conservatives and show that he's the man he said he was... as stated, 'there is no bi-partisanship' in Washington. I agree with
1789 Patriot...

Why couldn't this money come from the stimulus bill since all of it hasn't been spent?

LKMCGUIRE....you said in an earlier post that this bill will only help "government jobs." That is just plain false. How does government jobs benefit from tax cuts, that doesn't quite make sense.

The problem Lorenzo is that more people will be hurt by this than helped. You may(or may not) get employed, but we all definitely will be negatively affected by this kind of government spending.
