Martha and the Unions - Members paid a fee to hold signs

I was one of the many Brigadiers at the pre-debate rally at UMass and when I got there, I was pretty overwhelmed at the trailer truck of Martha signs and hundreds of union members holding them. While speaking with one of the union guys holding the Coakley sign, he admitted that his union was paying him $50 to stand and hold the sign. I was blown away, I always thought that these guys were out in the cold like us, doing what we thought was the right thing to do, not that they were actually being paid a fee to do it.

The best part was when he admitted that although he was there because he needed the money, he was voting for Scott!!

We are making history here in Massachusetts once again, keep up the great work everyone. We are all working hard to make Scott our next US Senator because we need him to go to Washington and fight for us! Get ready for the vote heard around the world.

Quite simply, the fact that Coakley had to pay people to attend speaks volumes. The Brigadiers were there in force, not for a measly stipend, but because we understand the issues, we realize that we need Scott to fight for us and we are passionate about our cause and understand that our country's future and the future of our children is at stake. The Coakley sign-holders didn't even have a basic grasp on the issues. No one is wild about Martha, any votes she gets will be out of a warped sense of duty by those who blindly pull the D lever at every election.
This race, like any special election is all about turn out and the Brown supporters are much more passionate and likely to show up to vote. Each of us needs to reach out to our friends, neighbors, co-workers and people in our FB or LinkedIn networks and make sure that people get out to vote for Scott on Tuesday. If each of us gets 5 people, who each get another 5 people and so on to vote for Scott, we can make a difference with "THE VOTE HEARD AROUND THE WORLD"

Joe, LOL, are you kidding? We Brown supporters guard our signs with our life, and print our own! The doublesided ones that can be cut, are separated so that we can get two out of them. Rear window, and one on each side window [smile]

I wonder if Obama will cave and give the UNIONS an "exemption" on the taxing of THEIR Cadilac Health Insurance plans to get them BACK onboard? He needs their support in MA and on much of his agenda going forward. Watch closely.....

I found it interesting that all of the Scott Brown supporters were leaving with their signs. Mine is proudly displayed in the window of my car. I presume that all of the Brown supporters will also display their support by putting those signs in prominent locations. The Coakley sign holders tossed their signs in the pile to be picked up by the union. They are paid sign holders NOT supporters.

Scott, I am unemployed taking care of my extremely ill veteran husband but because we believe in you so much we donated our last $20 till next week proudly and with our blessing. As a Tea Party member in VT (yes we actually do exist) I'm publicly asking Joe Kennedy to do the right thing and step down so as not to take away votes from Scott, please. You can take over Scott's soon to be vacant senate seat.

I just want to add this: to everyone that thinks their vote is not really that important I have three words for you: Senator Al Franken.
Don't be the one sitting at home wishing you had gone out to vote.

SOMEONE needs to see that this makes the news.....and if the Coakley campaign shows it as a donation. I really think paying someone to work for a campaign constitutes a donation to said campaign. Hey, it might send them over the limit.....

Wish I could have been there but it's a long way from Arizona.....Best of Luck Scott.

Oh please may those same people go to the polls. WHAT A SHOT HEARD AROUND THE WORLD IT SHALL BE!

I was at a different location than you, on the Blvd., holding 3 large signs that competed with the size of Martha's. When we were winding up, several stayed, one saying he would not leave until the Coakley people left. Well, my son and I crossed the street, and my son said, "we did a lot better than you on getting the honks and the thumbs up". I could not hear what he said, but I went over to speak with him, and another man, holding another huge sign, who stood with him. I was friendly and asked, do you really want more of the same? I was totally prepared to have a friendly exchange so that I could accomplish what an earlier poster said happened when they were in the same situation, i.e. convert a Coakley sign holder, BUT, it was so obvious that he didn't have a clue about Martha Coakley, or the election. There was no place to go with the conversation. He was just a hired hand, there for money.

I've never been involved with a campaign before, so I was shocked when, moments later, their signs were being loaded into a professionally painted van that said TEAMSTERS. The most I know about teamsters is from movies, and it's not good. I felt like I was watching a movie!!!

The rest of the night, however, was amazing. MORE TO COME, but Scott and his daughters are nothing less than what America might someday proudly flaunt as THE FIRST FAMILY. I'm not kidding. You should have seen their entrance, and the way they conducted themselves with "the people", in a local bar on Dorcester Ave in the Slavin? Hill area. They've got everything to not just bring this country back to greatness, but make us proud all along the way.
