Health Reform!

Well, ok, now that we are going to try to Kill the Bill, just what is it we want with health care reform or is everything just hunky-dory as it is?

Employer-sponsored health maintenance programs, etc. have been around for a while now, nothing new there. We spend WAY more than any other country on medical care and we are WAY down there on health status indicators, so how are we going to reduce cost AND improve care? And what about all the uninsured? We have a nice plan in Mass. here,… Continue

Health Care

Scott, you didn't vote against health care reform in Mass. and we have 96% coverage now here?

Why are you so dead set against giving the rest of America this same model?

I don't get it.

To answer your question: obviously we'll have to wait and see what Brown's election can do. But what I HOPE it brings is the following: a push back to conservative spending habits, realistic benefits to small(er) businesses (let's not fool ourselves and pretend none of the figurehead politicians aren't being talked to/wooed by big biz), a big flashing yield sign on this healthcare bill so we can actually know & understand the details (as opposed to non-transparent and backdoor talks), a stiffer backbone on home defense, an attitude adjustment for the GOP in terms of HOW bipartisan disagreements are handled AND actual HOPE for a troubled party...not just empty rhetoric by a flowery speaker.

As for Reid, Pelosi blah blah blah vacant suit after vacant pantsuit, the greatest challenge ahead for them is to stop talking down to the public. I don't think they're capable. It's one thing to be the one with your hands on the reigns...it's quite another to wave belligerently with one hand while thumbing your nose with the other (or at least appear to) at anyone who disagrees or "doesn't get" the details. Almost every presser they give and nearly every comment they make about any contingency to THEIR plans (and the plan to ram this h/c thing thru no matter what) is decidedly partisan, condescending & divisive. The Gibbs presser yesterday is a prime example. He is the voice of the White House, and he was glib, dismissive and altogether unapproachable. A far cry from BHO last night admitting they have utterly ignored the public about important issues.

You know, I liken that to McGuire admitting he used steroids..."gee, ya think?" Problem is, I don't believe they would've peeped if the MA race didn't end in a Brown win. And THAT to me is the surest sign of insincerity and dishonesty. Apologizing AFTER you commit the crime doesn't absolve you.

Here's to Brown being Hope v.1.2 - we all know the first generation is never as good as the one that follows.
